SUMMERSIDE – The Capital District Cyclones played their best hockey of the weekend when it counted the most in the Consolidated Credit Union bantam A female hockey tournament at Credit Union Place last weekend.

The Charlottetown-based Cyclones finished round-robin play in third place at 1-2 (won-lost) after posting a 6-0 victory over the Alberton Regals and losing 3-0 to the Tyne Valley Tornadoes and 7-2 at the hands of Montague Norsemen.

The Cyclones rebounded nicely during Sunday’s playoffs to defeat the Tyne Valley Tornadoes 4-1 in their semifinal game, before posting a 2-0 shutout in the championship game versus Montague.
Hailey Murphy and Bella Coffin netted goals in the final while assists were credited to Alexis Myers, Sophie Fay and Kayla Gallant.
Bella Scott recorded the shutout win.
Murphy (Capital District) and Drew MacNeill (Montague) were names the Source for Sports players of the game.
