CHARLOTTETOWN – Ben Cooke scored the game-winning goal for the O’Leary Maroons on Wednesday night.
Cooke’s goal with 1:59 remaining in the second period proved to be the difference as it gave the Maroons a 2-0 lead. O’Leary would go on to post a 3-1 victory over the Central Attack in a P.E.I. Midget AA Hockey League contest played at Simmons Sport Centre.
Remington Jones and Jacob Gallant also scored for the Maroons, who received assists from Austin Arsenault (2), Morgan MacLeod and Tanner Gallant.
Nick Bowman netted the Attack goal.
The Maroons, who outshot the Attack 28-18, held period leads of 1-0 and 3-0.
Winning goaltender was McGuire Gallant. Logan Fitzpatrick was between the pipes for the Attack.
The Attack was assessed seven minor penalties and one double minor. The Maroons were called for six minors.
