OTTAWA, Ont. — Former Charlottetown Islanders centre Filip Chlapik is going back to the NHL.
The Ottawa Senators called up the 21-year-old centre from the Czech Republic on Thursday. The Senators are in New Jersey tonight to play the Devils at 8 p.m. Atlantic.
Chlapik played three seasons with the Islanders and was selected in the second round of the 2015 draft by the Senators after his 33-goal, 75-point rookie campaign in Charlottetown. His final season was his best with the Isles, scoring 34 goals and record 57 assists in 57 games for a 91-point season.
The second-year pro has 15 goals and 15 assists in 41 games this season with the AHL’s Belleville Senators. Chlapik had a goal and three assists in 20 NHL games last season.
