SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Sullivan Sparkes tied the game and then won it in overtime as the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals defeated the Campbellton Tigers 2-1 Saturday at Credit Union Place.
Charles-William Gagne opened the scoring 12:34 into the second period, but Sparkes scored the equalizer 46 seconds later. Sparkes has three goals and three assists in four games with the Capitals after starting the season with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Charlottetown Islanders.
Dominik Tmej made 28 saves for the win while Tristan Gray stopped 38 shots in the loss.
Kyle Nichol, T.J. Shea, Noah Massie and Sam Meisenheimer each had an assist in the victory while Antoine Gauthier and Maxime Charest contributed helpers in the loss.
The Capitals improved to 16-3-0-0 while Campbellton is 10-4-1-2. Summerside returns to the ice Friday when they travel to St. Stephen, N.B., to play the Aces.
