The Vancouver Canucks will finally change it up next month.
The NHL team confirmed Friday they’ll wear their new Reverse Retro uniforms for the first time Feb. 19 against the Winnipeg Jets.
In all, they’ll wear the uniforms, which are based on the navy and red third uniforms worn between 2001 and 2006, four times in consecutive games. The new uniforms will also be seen in the second game of the home stand against the Jets on Feb. 21 and then in both games against the Edmonton Oilers on Feb. 23 and 25.
The Oilers will wear their white Reverse Retro uniforms in those games as well.
Every team in the league has a Reverse Retro setup this season and some teams have started wearing theirs. The league has a set window for when the teams are meant to wear their special uniforms, which are intended to draw on some element from the team’s past, be it a previous uniform design or something else.
The Canucks believe they’re the only team in the NHL that are wearing theirs in a four-game block, the idea here being they’ll be in front of their fans while they still have sweaters in stock for those same fans to buy.
