Two of Calgary’s birdie-machines successfully defended provincial titles last week.
Riley Fleming, a former tour pro and now an instructor at Lynx Ridge, pulled off a three-peat at the PGA of Alberta’s Assistants Championship.
Fleming completed two laps of Stony Plain GC in 4-under 140, especially impressive when you consider that he was 4-over early in the opening round in gusty conditions. He finished five shots clear of the field.
Meanwhile, Kim Carrington — a longtime regular at Willow Park and now a member at Cottonwood — made it back-to-back trophy presentations at the Alberta Senior Ladies Championship. She’s won that crown four times in a six-year span.
Carrington signed for a three-round total of 9-over 225 at Glendale in Edmonton, cruising to a five-shot victory.
Strathmore’s Joanne Ladner won the stableford-format Marg Ward Championship.
