KENSINGTON – It will be the first of many busy weekends for the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild.
The Wild open the 2018-19 New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League regular season on the road Friday night against the Saint John Vitos. Kensington will then return home to host Newbridge Academy from Dartmouth, N.S., in back-to-back exhibition games at Credit Union Centre to close out a stretch of three games in less than 72 hours. Game times against Newbridge Academy are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 12:15 p.m. on Sunday.
With league games played predominantly on weekends – and the Wild’s regular home night Saturdays – Kensington will play back-to-back games 13 times during the regular season.
New faces
The games against Newbridge Academy will provide an opportunity for fans to check out this year’s edition of the Wild, which features a number of new faces following the graduation of six players and some potential returnees making the jump to the junior ranks or opting for other options.
The Wild’s regular-season home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 22, when the Bathurst, N.B.-based Northern Moose travel to Kensington for a 7:30 p.m. start.
The Wild is coming off a 2-2 (won-lost) showing at the league’s annual pre-season jamboree in Moncton, N.B.
