POWNAL, P.E.I. – Avery Brown scored both of his team’s goals Saturday as the Eastern Express defeated the Prince County Warriors 2-1 in Prince Edward Island Bantam AAA Hockey League action.
All the scoring was done in the second period at the Pownal Sports Centre.
Nolan Stewart assisted on Brown’s shorthanded goal with 9:51 left in the second. Cody McCormack responded with his first of the season on a power play with 6:09 remaining in the middle stanza to tie the game. Clark Allain had the lone assist.
Brown from Sam Worth scored the winner with 1:29 left in the period.
Ethan Smith was the winning goalie while Kiefer Thompson was tagged with the loss.
Prince County was 1-for-5 on the power play while Eastern was 0-for-4.
Eastern, which is second in the four-team league, improved to 9-9-0 while third-place Prince County is 4-14-0.
