AMHERST, N.S. – It was a big weekend for Truro Bearcats’ rookie forward Tayler Read.
The 18-year-old forward from Wilmot Valley scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday’s 6-0 whitewashing of the Woodstock Slammers in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League).
Read, who captained the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League last season, scored the game’s first goal in the second period in the Bearcats’ 2-1 overtime win over the Amherst Ramblers on Sunday afternoon. Read was named the game’s third star.
In 16 regular-season games with the Bearcats, Read has three goals and one assist for four points.
