MONCTON, N.B. – It was a big weekend for players from Prince County in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Acadie-Bathurst Titan defenceman Noah Dobson of Summerside earned an assist, and was named the second star in a 3-2 shootout win over the host Moncton Wildcats on Saturday in a nationally-televised game on Sportsnet.
Dobson enters the Christmas break with four goals and 28 assists for 32 points in 35 regular-season games.
Also on Saturday, defenceman Bailey Webster of Kelvin Grove and forward Carson MacKinnon of Summerside earned assists for their respective teams.
Webster assisted on the Saint John Sea Dogs’ overtime winner in a 4-3 decision over the visiting Charlottetown Islanders.
Webster improved his point total to seven – one goal and six assists – in 34 games this season.
MacKinnon assisted on the game’s first goal as his Rimouski Oceanic pulled out a 3-2 overtime victory versus the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
Friday night, Jeremy McKenna earned an assist for the Moncton Wildcats in a 4-3 overtime loss in Saint John.
McKenna has recorded 36 points – 16 goals and 20 assists – in 35 regular-season contests.
Rookie defenceman Jacob Arsenault of Richmond also plays for the Wildcats, and he has one goal and two assists for three points in 30 games.
