CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Isaac Vos scored the winner Wednesday as the Central Attack opened the Prince Edward Island Bantam AAA Hockey League semifinal with a 3-1 win over the Mid-Isle Matrix.
The goal came with 12:56 left in the third period at Simmons Sports Centre. Kal White scored an insurance goal with 2:36 remaining.
Angus Beaton gave Mid-Isle the lead with a first period power-play goal. Harrison James and Carson MacKay had the assists.
Jacob Squires tied it with a power-play goal in the middle stanza.
Jamie Collins had two assists for the Attack while Alex Graham and Tanner MacLean each had one.
A.J. Cooper recorded the win while Josh Smith took the loss.
The Attack was 1-for-2 on the power play while the Matrix was 1-for-5.
Game 2 is Thursday at 7:20 p.m. in Rustico.
