NORTH RUSTICO – The Central Attack spotted the Mid-Isle Matrix a 3-0 first-period lead before rallying for a 5-4 overtime win on Thursday night.

John MacKinnon’s unassisted goal in overtime capped the comeback, which gave the Attack a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series in the P.E.I. Major Bantam AAA Hockey League. Game 3 is at Simmons Sport Centre in Charlottetown on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
At the North Star Arena, the Attack’s Alex Graham, with his second goal of the night, and Jamie Collins netted back-to-back power-play goals just under three minutes apart early in the third period to tie the game 5-5. Niklas Reeves also scored for the Attack while Matt McQuaid (2), Jacob Squires (2), Landon MacDonald and Kal White added assists.
Reese Wyand (1-1), Carson MacKay (1-1), Kyle Mason and Angus Beaton replied for the Matrix. Spencer Toole and Landon Hardy assisted.
The Matrix held period leads of 3-1 and 4-2.
Winning goaltender was Jack Howatt. Josh Smith was in goal for Mid-Isle.
