MONCTON, N.B. – Ryan Richards’ second period goal was the winner Thursday as the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild defeated College St-Hilaire from Quebec 5-3 to open the Monctonian Challenge.
Keiran Gallant scored the Wild’s first and fifth goals of the game while Dixon MacLeod and Lucas Parsons each tallied one.
Landon Clow had two assists while singles went to Richards, Issac Wilson, Reid Peardon, Colby MacArthur, Bennett MacArthur and Jack Campbell.
Chad Arsenault earned the win.
Kensington held 3-2 and 4-2 period leads. Jakob Morier brought the Quebec squad within one with 10:26 left in the game, but Gallant tallied 1:16 later to provide the two-goal cushion.
The Wild looks to go to 2-0 Friday when they play Nova Scotia’s Pictou County Weeks at 2 p.m.
