ABRAM-VILLAGE – A familiar face with the Evangeline School athletic program was recently announced as its Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month.
Evan Gallant of Abram-Village has been very active with teams and programs over the past number of years.
The Grade 12 student, who is the 17-year-old son of Jamie and the late Yvette Gallant, played striker on Evangeline School’s senior boys’ soccer team in the fall, will play singles and doubles badminton and will compete in running events in track and field in the spring.
Outside of school, Evan is a third-year forward with the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League.
“Evan is a multi-sport athlete,” said Evangeline School athletic director Jason Arsenault. “He’s been an athlete here since Grade 7. He’s competed in track and field, cross-country, is a phenomenal softball player and is an outstanding hockey player.”
Arsenault’s also praised Evan’s commitment and work ethic.
“Evan is extremely disciplined, and he always tries hard while still finding a way to maintain high grades in all his classes while serving as vice-president of the student council.”
Following graduation from high school in June, Evan hopes to attend university and continue playing hockey.
