SYDNEY, N.S. — A former Cape Breton Eagle has signed with an Austrian Hockey League team for the 2020-21 season.

Defenceman Oskars Bartulis signed a deal with the Steinbach Black Wings 1992 on Thursday.

The 33-year-old joins the club after starting the season with HK Mogo in Latvia, where he recorded three goals and 11 points in 14 games.

Prior to his new contact, Bartulis played eight seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League and appeared in 66 games with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Ogre, Lativa, native played one season with the Eagles during the 2005-06 campaign. He recorded 13 goals and 48 points in 55 games that season.
