Liam Kerwin led the Summerside Cooke Insurance Clippers’ defence in a 41-0 road victory over the Cornwall Timberwolves on Friday night.

The Clippers spread the ball around on offence, and the defence stepped up with its best effort of the season in a 41-0 win over the Cornwall Timberwolves on Friday night.

Early lead

Summerside, which improved to 4-0 (won-lost), scored early in the game on a Cameron Paynter 50-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Camren Gavin. Running backs Caleb Dawson and Brandon Thomas followed with majors. Dawson had a 35-yard score while Thomas found the end zone from 10 yards out.

 

Defence shines

In the second quarter, the Liam Kerwin-led defence shut down the Timberwolves’ offence while touchdowns by wide receiver Parker Cameron and tight end Cameron Gallant gave the Clippers a 34-0 lead at the half.

 

Second half

In the second half, Summerside’s defence continued to dominate, and Gavin hit tight end Hayden Gauthier for a 45-yard touchdown pass. Kicker Caleb Dawson kicked six of seven converts.

The Timberwolves fell to 1-3.

 

Next game

The Clippers’ next game is the Souris Wildcats at Eric Johnston Field in Summerside on Friday night. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
