Zak Jarvis, 15, rushes the ball for the Charlottetown Privateers against the Summerside Cooke Insurance Clippers in Saturday afternoon’s Potato Bowl in Cornwall. The Privateers won the game 42-28.

It was the third straight year the Clippers have lost in the championship game of the Papa John’s P.E.I. Varsity Tackle Football League.

At the Terry Fox Complex, the Privateers broke out to a 20-0 first-half lead on two touchdowns by quarterback Colin Trewin, who hooked up with Zac Jarvis for the third major.

Clippers quarterback Jayden Reid found Tyler Snyder for a touchdown on the final play of the first half, and the convert was good to make it 20-7 at halftime.

Reid found Cameron Paynter on the opening drive of the third quarter, and all of a sudden it was 20-14.

However, the Privateers answered back by marching right down the field, and the drive was capped off by Kyle Younker, and shortly after Trewin connected with Jarvis for his second score of the game to give Charlottetown a 36-14 lead.

Paynter scored the final two Summerside touchdowns on passing plays with Reid.
