The Summerside Spartans’ organization will host the largest under-11 and under-13 tournament in the Maritimes as the second annual Domino’s Spartan Bowl is held at Eric Johnston Field.
A total of 24 teams – an increase from 18 teams in last year’s inaugural event – will compete for top honours. The Under-11 Division features 11 teams while 13 teams will play for the under-13 title.
Teams from Tignish all the way to the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia will begin play on Friday at 6 p.m., and continue through to Sunday, when the quarter-finals, semifinals and championship games will be contested.
Two Summerside teams – Travellers Home Centre Red Spartans and Green Spartans – are the tournament’s defending under-11 and under-13 champions.
The Spartans will have three teams in under-11 play, and two teams competing in under-13.
