The Green Bay Packers have been paying attention to what’s been going on with the Calgary Stampeders recently.

On Wednesday, the Packers signed their second Stampeders player of the off-season when they offered a futures contract to defensive back DaShaun Amos. Earlier this month, the Packers also gave receiver Reggie Begelton a contract.

Amos worked out with the Packers on Tuesday and they were impressed with what they saw. The Stamps released him so that he could sign his new contract earlier on Wednesday morning.

The 25-year-old is coming off an exceptional season for the Stampeders in 2019. He finished the year with 42 defensive tackles and five interceptions. Only two players in the CFL had more picks last year, and they were both corners — Amos is a halfback.

The East Carolina product joined the Stamps on Oct. 3, 2018 and started his first game for the team only 10 days later. Considering that the Stamps were coming down the regular season stretch in a year where they’d go on to win the Grey Cup, that speaks to how highly he was regarded in the organization.

“He was in the IMG mini-camp (in the spring of 2018) with us and he was the best DB we had, but he got blessed with (an NFL opportunity last summer),” defensive backs coach Josh Bell said earlier this year. “Tre Roberson was a starter for us (last season), and Amos was way better than Tre Roberson when we did the evaluation at IMG.”
