CHARLOTTETOWN – The Summerside Waterwise Spartans and Cooke Insurance Clippers will enter their final regular-season games undefeated.

Both teams are 5-0 (won-lost) in their respective leagues after posting solid road victories against the Charlottetown Privateers on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans won the P.E.I. Bantam Tackle Football League game 48-12, and the Clippers were victorious 47-6 in P.E.I. Varsity Tackle Football League play.
Both Summerside teams will close out the regular-season schedule on home turf at Eric Johnston Field against the Cornwall Timberwolves on Friday. The Spartans’ game begins at 6 p.m., followed by the Clippers’ contest at 8 p.m.

Spartans 48 Privateers 12
Running back Kieran Arsenault scored four touchdowns on the ground to lead the way for the Spartans. Wide receiver Zack Blood added two scores, and quarterback Lucas Doucette had one touchdown.

Clippers 47 Privateers 6
After a slow start, the Clippers’ offence started executing and quarterback Nic Gunning threw for three touchdowns – two to Charlie Turner (15 yards and 40 yards) and one to Caleb Dawson (20 yards).
Dawson also a 25-yard touchdown run while wide receiver Ethan Haakman had a 60-yard touchdown on a jet sweep and a 70-yard kickoff return score.
Rookie running back Mike Friesen had a 50-yard score for the final Clippers’ touchdown.
Summerside's defence, which hasn’t given up a touchdown all season until late in the fourth quarter, was dominant once again.
This sets up a big matchup against Cornwall, which sits in second place and needs to beat the Clippers on Friday for a chance to claim first place. The Clippers topped the Timberwolves 17-1 in the first meeting between the two teams in Cornwall in Week 2 on Sept. 21.
