The Clippers posted a convincing 54-0 shutout over the Souris Wildcats at Eric Johnston Field on Friday night to improve to 5-0 (won-lost) in the Papa John’s P.E.I. Varsity Tackle Football League.
Clippers quarterback Camren Gavin gave his team early momentum as he ran into the end zone from 65 yards out on the game’s first play.
The Wildcats had a number of opportunities early in the game, but dropped passes proved costly, and they could not recover.
Gavin had five touchdown passes – two to Parker Cameron, and singles to Cameron Wall, Cameron Paynter, and Hayden Gauthier. Owen Turner took over at quarterback in the fourth quarter, and he threw a major score to Paynter. Cole Adams added a 70-yard touchdown run to finish off the scoring.
The Clippers, who received another standout game from the defence, led 34-0 at the half. To illustrate how dominating the Clippers’ defence has been, they have not given up a touchdown in six quarters.
