SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Waterwise Spartans are entering the playoffs on a winning note.
The Spartans trimmed the Kings County Steelers 54-6 in the Papa John’s P.E.I. Bantam Tackle Football League at Eric Johnston Field on Friday night.
The Spartans, who completed regular-season play at 4-2 (won-lost), will host the Charlottetown Privateers in a semifinal game on Friday. Game time at Eric Johnston Field is 6 p.m., with the winner advancing to the Ed Hilton Bowl championship game in Summerside on Nov. 4 at noon.
Against the Steelers (0-6), Ethan Haakman scored three touchdowns to lead the Spartans. Zachary Blood and Parker Fisher also contributed offensive majors while Aaron Carr and Kieran Arsenault scored defensive touchdowns.
