Bantam Spartans keep winning

SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Waterwise Spartans combined dominant performances on both sides of the ball.

Colin Goodwin scored a touchdown and kicked six converts in the Summerside Waterwise Spartans’ 55-0 win over the Charlottetown Privateers on Friday night. The Papa John’s P.E.I. Bantam Tackle Football League game was played at Eric Johnston Field.

The Spartans defeated the Charlottetown Privateers 54-0 to improve to 3-0 (won-lost) in Papa John’s P.E.I. Bantam Tackle Football League regular-season play on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Summerside Cooke Insurance Clippers’ varsity game against the Privateers, which was also scheduled for Friday night, was postponed.

Offensive leaders

At Eric Johnston Field, Charlie Turner and Ethan Lawless each scored two touchdowns to lead the Spartans, who received another outstanding performance from their defence that has only allowed six points all season.

Colin Goodwin, Ethan Haakman and Arman Singh had one major score each and kicker Goodwin also converted six of the seven touchdowns.

The Spartans led 47-0 at halftime.

On the road

The Spartans head to Cornwall on Friday to play the Timberwolves at 6 p.m. The Spartans blanked the Timberwolves 17-0 in the regular-season openers for both teams in Summerside on Sept. 16.
