BEDFORD, N.S. — An amazing run by Eastern Express in the 2020 Chronicle Herald East Coast Ice Jam hockey tournament came to an end Sunday afternoon.

The Pownal-based Express, who had won five straight games after losing their opening game 7-2, dropped a 5-1 decision to the Moncton Hawks in the championship game of the Major Bantam Division.
It was the first time a P.E.I. team had qualified for the bantam final at the Ice Jam.
Overall, the Express completed play in the five-day tournament 5-2 (won-lost).
In the final, the defending-champion Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period and took a 4-1 advantage into the final frame.
Evan Nicholson, assisted by Ross Campbell and Caleb MacDonald, scored Eastern’s lone goal.
Jackson MacDonald tended goal for the Express.

Midget
In the Major Midget Division, Steele Subaru from Dartmouth, N.S., defeated the Halifax Macs 3-1 in the championship game.
