STRATFORD, P.E.I. — Canada will play for bronze in boys' hockey Wednesday at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Switzerland.
Canada, coached by Stratford’s Gordie Dwyer, lost 2-1 to the United States Tuesday in semifinal action. Nate Danielson from Adam Fantilli and Matthew Savoie accounted for Canada’s lone goal while Vincent Filion made 23 saves in the loss.
“Not the result we wanted, but our group played as a team today and we were relentless in our pursuit,” Dwyer said. “I am very proud of our young team and the progress we’ve made in a very short time. Our focus will be on making sure we continue to do the right things, the things we’ve worked on through our time together and focusing on our game plan.”
Canada will play the loser of the Finland/Russia semifinal Wednesday at 7 a.m. Atlantic.
