CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Charlottetown Islanders return to action in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Thursday.

The Islanders will host the Drummondville Voltigeurs in a 7 p.m. start at Eastlink Centre. It will mark the first meeting of the regular season between the two teams.

The Islanders, coming off a 3-2 road win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Saturday, sport a record of 11-4-3 (won-lost-overtime losses). Drummondville is 12-7-0.

Rookie season

The game will mark the return to P.E.I. for Voltigeurs’ 16-year-old rookie forward Jack Campbell of Souris.

Campbell, who played with the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League last season, has one goal and nine penalty minutes in 15 regular-season games with the Voltigeurs.

Drummondville drafted Campbell in the sixth round, 99th overall, in June 2019.

Thursday’s game is the start of a busy upcoming stretch for the Islanders, who will travel to Sydney, N.S., to take on the Cape Breton Eagles (12-5-1) in a huge clash between Maritime Division teams Saturday. The Islanders will then host the Gatineau Olympiques (4-11-3) in a Remembrance Day matinee on Monday at 3 p.m.
