CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Doctor Royal kept his East Coast streak of perfection intact in the Saturday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Gilles Barrieau was in the bike in the $2,900 preferred pace for owner-trainer Dawn Ellis Abbott of Truro, N.S., as the pacer was unchallenged at every station to lay down fractions of 27.3, 56.1, 1:25.4 and 1:56.2. Mick Dundee (driven by Don MacNeill) finished third, with Adkins Hanover (David Dowling) third.
Leading driver Marc Campbell opened up the card with wins in the first three races. Unapologetically was a 2:00.4 victor for trainer Darryl MacLean of Winsloe in the opener, then Campbell reunited with his former stakes’ star pupil Elektra Express to win Race 2 in 1:59.1 for trainer Jennifer Doyle of Earnescliffe. JKs Boy completed the hat trick in Race 3 with a 2:01.1 score with Campbell driving for Leith Waite of Summerside.
The Melissa Rennie stable came to play on the program, taking the top prize in two races. Revenant (Adam Merner) won his $2,500 event in 1:57.1 for owner Kyla MacDonald of Stanhope. Then, Likely To Win (Merner) hit the wire first in 2:00 later in the card for owners Blenise Young of Long Point and Lester Campbell of Judique, N.S., along with co-owner Jeffrey Campbell of Calgary, Alta.
The Leonard MacPhail Memorial Pace went to Twice As Bright in 1:58.4 for as the first part of a Dowling driving triple. Elton Millar of Tyne Valley trains the nine-year-old son of Armbro Deuce.
Dowling also had a pair of winners from his own stable on the Saturday card as Slide Guitar was a winner in 1:59.2 for owner Brittany Watts of Warren Grove while Euchred was a popular winner in the finale, stopping the clock in 1:58.1 for Nova Scotia owner Kayla Habicht Walker.
Live racing continues Thursday at Red Shores Charlottetown with a post time of 6:30 p.m. For race replays and more go to www.Redshores.ca.
