P.E.I. curling rinks complete play at national juniors

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. —

P.E.I.’s two entries concluded play in their respective seedings pool at the 2019 New Holland Canadian junior curling championships in Prince Albert, Sask., on a winning note.

The Tyler Smith rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex won its final two games at the national under-21 event Thursday to complete play 4-5 (won-lost). Smith, third stone Ryan Abraham, second stone Alex MacFadyen and lead Ryan Lowery defeated Nunavut 16-2 and the Yukon 9-5.
The Lauren Ferguson-skipped team from the Cornwall Curling Club finished with a 2-7 record after splitting a pair of games Thursday. Ferguson, third stone Katie Shaw, second stone Alexis Burris and lead Lexie Murray lost 8-4 to the host team in a late-afternoon start, before bouncing back for a 17-4 decision over Nunavut in the evening draw.
