After practising with the team throughout Grade 10 but missing game action due to hockey commitments, Carter Cahill returned to the Westisle Wolverines’ volleyball team in 2018, and quickly made his presence known
The Grade 12 student started off alternating as setter, and then made a seamless switch to the off-side position. His efforts did not go unnoticed, and the 17-year-old son of Lori and Holly Cahill of Ascension was recently acknowledged as Westisle Composite High School’s Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month.
Westisle coach Keturah Fraser said Cahill was a consistent contributor all season.
“He did extremely well there,” she said, noting he blocked against the opposition's power hitters. “He’s got really great hands, and really great reaction time.”
Carter also plays defence with the Western Regals, the first-place team in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League.
After completing his high school education in June, Cahill plans to enroll in UNB’s engineering program.
