CHARLOTTETOWN - The Holland College Hurricanes finished in a tie for third place in the recent Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association badminton competition in Halifax, NS.

The five-team field had competitors from Dal-AC, Mount Allison, Holland College, host King’s College and the Université de Sainte-Anne.

Mount Allison won the event by 23 points over King’s College. The Hurricanes (42 points) tied with Universite sainte-Anne. Dal-AC finished fifth.

The ‘Canes win the men’s doubles B competition with strong play from Jonah Wilton and Connor Loerick as they went 4-0.  

Meanwhile, Emma Hughes in women’s singles A , Wilton in men’s singles A and Matt Barlow in men’s singles B all went 3-1.

Hughes and Loerick finished third in mixed doubles A, while David Cozens and Barlow placed third in men’s doubles A.  

It’s the third straight event the ‘Canes have finished in third place.

Next up Holland College goes to Truro, N.S., on Saturday for a meet hosted by Dal-AC.

The Hurricanes host the ACAA championships Feb. 17-18.
