CHARLOTTETOWN – Team captain Chasse Gallant stepped up with the game on the line.

Gallant scored a natural hat trick en route to a four-goal, two-assist performance in leading the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings to a 6-4 road win over the Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros in the Island Junior Hockey League on Wednesday night. The win improved the Red Wings’ record to 2-1-0 (won-lost-overtime losses), and the Metros fell to 1-2-0.
League action resumes on Friday night as the first-place Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (2-0) visit the Cap-Pelé Predators in an interlocking game with the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League. The Red Wings will host the Vipers at the Evangeline Recreation Centre on Sunday at 2:15 p.m.

At the Cody Banks Arena, Gallant scored two goals in the final two minutes of the second period to break a 2-2 tie and send the Red Wings into the second intermission ahead 4-2. He then capped the natural hat trick 5:26 into the third period to make it 5-2.
Spencer Groom (1-3) and Chandler Wood (1-1) also scored for the Red Wings while Grant Koughan, Nick Currie, Connor Gray and Alex Hambly netted single goals for the Metros.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period.
Winning goaltender Bronson Banks made 46 saves on 50 shots while Ben Parent allowed six goals on 43 shots in the Metros’ goal.
