Team Two Chevys drop into second

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Summerside Team Two Chevys dropped out of first place in the P.E.I. Bantam AA Baseball League.

The Chevys fell 13-9 to the Charlottetown Royals recently, and are now in second place, half a game behind the Summerside Team One Chevys. The Royals, meanwhile, closed to within a game of the Chevys.
The two Summerside teams will clash in a key head-to-head meeting at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Legends Field on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Early lead
At Central Field, Charlottetown scored twice in the first inning, and added another run in the second to take a 3-0 lead.
Summerside's Hannah LeClair, who was robbed of a base hit in her first at-bat by Charlottetown’s right-fielder, would single and drive in two runs to pull the visitors to within a run.
The Royals would answer back with seven runs in the fourth inning, and increase their lead to nine runs in the fifth.
LeClair's second hit of the game would spark a four-run sixth inning for Summerside, but the Royals would hang on.
Cameron Murray (2-3), Benjamin Gallant (2-3), Dylan Gilfoy (2-3), LeClair (2-4, two runs batted in), and Nic Gunning 2(2-4, two runs batted in) led the charge offensively for Summerside. Liam Greenan, Jackson MacDougall and Jayden Hogg had the other hits.
For the Royals offensively, Fin Carragher led all batters with a 3-for-4 summary. Carson Neil (1-1) and Ethan Murphy (1-2) also chipped in offensively for Charlottetown.
Zach Hamill was the winning pitcher, and Gallant was the pitcher of record for Summerside.
