Ravens finish round robin undefeated at under-14 Eastern Canadians

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. – ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – The Re/Max Ravens have completed a 5-0 round robin at the under-14 Eastern Canadians girls’ softball championship in St. John’s, N.L.

They will Ontario One Sunday at 8 a.m. Atlantic with the winner heading to the final and the loser awaiting the winner of the three-versus-four quarter-final.

The Ravens defeated Newfoundland and Labrador 15-7 and Ontario One 8-1. Both games were called in five innings.

Kylee Campbell started for P.E.I., throwing three innings of one-hit ball while striking out four.

Newfoundland rallied in the fourth inning, loading the bases on three walks. Ella Condon gave up four hits in 1/3 of an inning before Ashley Cullen came in to strike out four of the next six batters to end the game.

Sophia Jeffery was 3-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored and was named the Ravens player of the game. Lindsey Drover was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored and Charli Arsenault 1-for-1 with a walk.

Ontario got things going in the top of the second when they scored its only run on back-to-back hits and a fielder’s choice.

The Ravens answered back in their half of the inning to tie the game. From there they scored three more runs in the third and fourth innings and added two in the fifth to end the game.

Condon pitched five innings, giving up three hits with striking out one, but also fielded the ball well with four putouts.

Jeffery stayed hot, going 4-for-4 and driving in the winning run to walk-off the game. She also scored twice and was named the team’s player of the game.

Condon went 3-for-3 with a run scored and Drover was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
