SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The P.E.I. Youth Selects won a high-scoring game on Friday evening to get back to the .500 mark at the 2019 Canada Cup Canadian under-17 baseball championship in Regina, Sask.
The Selects scored four times in each of the third and fourth innings in a 10-7 victory over Alberta to improve to 2-2 (won-lost). P.E.I. will close out round-robin play against Nova Scotia on Saturday morning.
Tanner MacLean worked 5 2/3 innings in earning the pitching win against Alberta. His line read seven earned runs, nine hits, four walks and five strikeouts.
Ben MacDougall (2-4, two runs scored), Jack MacKenzie (2-4, run scored) and Tyler Taylor (1-4, run scored) all drove in two runs to pace the Youth Selects’ offensive attack.
