The Owen Sound under-23 Selects scored one run in each of the first and third innings and then exploded for five runs in the fourth inning en route to a 9-0 thumping of the Ravens in the P.E.I. squad’s first game at the Softball Canada under-23 fastpitch championship in St-Leonard-D’Aston, Que., on Tuesday.
Tyler Pauli led the way for the Selects with four hits and five RBIs. Matt Wardrop struck out eight batters.
The Selects outhit the Ravens 15-5.
Jonathan Arsenault pitched 3 1/3 innings for the Ravens and managed to throw 14 first-pitch strikes on the mound.
The Ravens are back in action against the host Express at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
