MORELL, P.E.I. — Jason MacLean pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts Wednesday to lead the Northside Gill Construction Brewers to the Kings County Baseball League playoffs.

The Brewers defeated the Grant Thornton Tigers 8-1 in a tie-breaking game to determine the fourth and final playoff berth for the post-season. Both teams ended the regular season with 10-14 records.

The Brewers scored two runs in the first and added three more in the second – all with two outs – to jump out to a 5-0 lead.
Mitch and Nick Ryan both had three hits and scored a combined five runs. Jed MacEwen added two more hits with three RBI and Seth Nicholson chipped in with two hits.
Tyler Johnson suffered the loss with relief from Bret Cheverie. Jordan Duffy, Elijah Hood and Josh Kelly had the Tiger hits.
The Brewers will open the semifinal with The Alley Athletics (17-7) on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in Stratford.

The Morell Chevies (16-8) and Peakes Bombers (14-10) will meet in the other series.
