New Brunswick advances to semifinal

SUMMERSIDE – New Brunswick has advanced to the 2017 Ray Carter Cup semifinals.

New Brunswick defeated Nova Scotia 4-1 in an all-Maritime quarter-final game at Baseball Canada’s national 15-under championship.
New Brunswick, which finished the round robin 3-2 (won-lost), will face Ontario (2-2) on Sunday at 11:45 a.m. It will be a rematch of the final game of the round robin on Saturday afternoon – a contest Ontario won 8-0. Nova Scotia, which went 2-3 in the round robin, will face British Columbia (1-3) in the fifth-place game at 2:45 p.m.
The other semifinal will feature Saskatchewan (3-1) taking on Quebec (4-0) at 11:30 a.m. The bronze-medal game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., and the gold-medal match is slated for 6:30 p.m.
P.E.I. (1-3), which lost 11-1 to Quebec on Saturday, will play Alberta (2-2) for seventh place at 8:45 a.m.

Sunday’s schedule
Following is Sunday’s schedule:
8:30 a.m. – Ninth-place game: Man. (1-3) vs. N.L. (2-2).
8:45 a.m. –Seventh-place game: P.E.I. (1-3) vs. Alta. (2-2).
11:30 a.m. – Semifinal: Sask. (3-1) vs. Que. (4-0).
11:45 a.m. – Semifinal: N.B. (3-2) vs. Ont. (2-2).
2:45 p.m. – Fifth-place game: N.S. (2-3) vs. B.C. (1-3).
3:30 p.m. – Bronze-medal game.
6:30 p.m. – Gold-medal game.
