SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The P.E.I. Little Caesars Islanders’ struggles in the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League continued on Saturday.
The Islanders were swept for the second consecutive weekend on home soil, again at the hands of the Saint John Alpines. The scores were 3-2 and 3-0.
P.E.I. now sports a 9-7 (won-lost) record and head on the road next weekend for two games in Fredericton on Saturday and a doubleheader in Moncton versus the Mudcats on Sunday.

Game 1
In Game 1, the Alpines scored three times in the fourth inning to break open a scoreless game and then hung on for the one-run victory. The key blow was a two-run single from Matt Oram.
P.E.I. made a valiant comeback in the seventh inning, but left the bases loaded to end the game.
Ryan Nason picked up the pitching win as the Islanders outhit the Alpines 6-3. Chandler LaPorte suffered a hard-luck loss, allowing only three hits and three unearned runs.
Patrick Young had two hits for P.E.I. Elijah Hood, Connor McGregor, Gavin Hickey and Nolan Hicken all had one.
P.E.I. also lost starting shortstop Ryne MacIsaac for the foreseeable future with an eye injury, when a line drive deflected off his glove and struck his face.

Second game
In Game 2, the Alpines rode the pitching of Greg Mitchell to the shutout. Mitchell surrendered only three hits and struck out three.
Gabe Penalver took the loss for the Islanders. Patrick Gallant threw two shutout innings of relief.
Tom Gogan and Tyler Hooley each had two hits for the Alpines. Hood, McGregor and LaPorte had the Isles' hits.
