SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The P.E.I. Islanders sit atop the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League standings at 9-3 (won-lost) after splitting a home doubleheader with the Chatham Ironmen on Sunday afternoon.
The Islanders won the opener 10-2 while the Ironmen (3-6) bounced back to take the second game by a 10-0 score. Both contests were played at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Legends Field.
P.E.I.’s doubleheader in Moncton on Saturday was rained out. The Islanders’ next action is a doubleheader at Memorial Field against the Saint John Alpines on Saturday starting at noon.

Islanders 10 Chatham 2
In Game 1, P.E.I. scored at least once in every inning.
John Savidant had two hits, including a home run and three runs batted in, to lead the Islanders’ attack. Elijah Hood also had two hits while Ryne MacIsaac, Gabe Penalver, Gavin Hickey, Noah Duckworth and Brett Caissie each had one.
Chandler Laporte threw four shutout innings to earn the pitching win. Patrick Gallant and Eric Anderson pitched the final three innings.
Alex Preston took the loss for the Ironmen, who received two hits from Matt Carroll.

Chatham 10 Islanders 0
In Game 2, Chatham broke open a scoreless contest with a four-run fourth.
Ironmen starter Johnny Henderson baffled the Islanders all game, scattering three hits in a complete-game shutout.
P.E.I.’s hits came off the bats of MacIsaac, Savidant and Hickey. Alex Jabbour took the loss and a parade of Islanders’ relievers finished the game.
Eric Savoy led Chatham offensively with three hits.
