Junior Islanders baseball game pushed back to 2 p.m. start

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The P.E.I. Junior Islanders welcome the Fredericton Royals today for a doubleheader.

The first game has been pushed back to 2 p.m. in order to have Memorial Field ready following Friday night's rain.

The Islanders (9-1) have won seven straight games and lead the five-team league was the Royals (3-2) are third.

P.E.I. is 8-0 against Chatham and Saint John, who are a combined 1-13, and 1-1 against the Moncton-based Metro Mudcats (4-1).

Connor McGregor leads the Islanders with a .533 average while Brett Hicken and Riley Gallant both sport a .500 average. Gallant leads the team with 13 hits and 12 RBI.

Hicken leads the staff with three wins while Porter Smith has a pair while they sport ERAs of 1.29 and 1.13, respectively. Each have pitched 14 or more innings this season.
