The Islanders swept a road doubleheader from the Saint John Alpines on Saturday to extend their winning streak to four games in the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League.
The Islanders, who sit last in the five-team league at 12-18 (won-lost), won the opener 11-5 and took Game 2 by a 6-3 score.
The Islanders, who have two regular-season games remaining, return to action on Sunday, Aug. 13, when they visit the Moncton Fisher Cats at 7 p.m. Fourth-place Moncton (13-14) , which is 2 ½ games ahead of the Islanders, is scheduled to host the first-place Chatham Ironmen (15-11) on Sunday night.

After the teams exchanged three runs in the first inning, the Islanders scored eight runs in the fourth to take control. Charlottetown also took advantage of three Saint John errors to plate seven unearned runs in the contest.
Offensively, Grant Grady swung the hot bat. The Freetown native posted a 3-for-4 summary at the plate, including a home run, two runs scored and two runs batted in (RBI). Taylor Larkin (2-4, two runs scored, RBI) also contributed to the Islanders’ 11-hit attack.
Jordan Stevenson pitched six innings in improving his record to 7-3. His line read five runs allowed (four earned), six hits, two walks and nine strikeouts. Larkin worked one inning of hitless relief, which included a pair of strikeouts. Saint John starter Shawn O’Toole, who allowed 11 runs on 11 hits, took the loss.
Kevin DeSaulniers (2-3, two RBIs) was Saint John’s top batter.

Brody MacDonald (3-4) earned the complete-game victory in Game 2. MacDonald allowed six hits, two earned runs and three walks while striking out 12. Brodie Saunders, who allowed six earned runs and 13 hits, was tagged with the loss.
Stevenson and Jesse MacIntyre each went 3-for-4, with two runs scored a run batted in, to pace the Islanders’ attack. Josh McKinnon (2-4, home run, two RBIs), Morgan MacLean (2-4) and Jacob Beck (1-2, two walks, run scored, RBI) also chipped in offensively.
Jack Shannon (2-4, home run, two RBIs) and Don Barton (2-4, run scored) led Saint John at the dish.
