MIRAMICHI, N.B. — A trio of Islanders are Canadian baseball champs.

New Glasgow brothers John Patrick (J.P.) and Jordan Stevenson, both pitchers, plus St. Peters Bay resident Dillon Doucette, a Peakes native, were part of the Chatham Ironmen squad that won the senior men’s championship on their home field Sunday night.

The Ironmen defeated the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry squad from Nova Scotia 3-2 in the championship game.

Doucette gave the home side the lead with a solo home run in the second inning. Dartmouth tied it in the fourth on a Chris Thibideau solo home run before Chatham scored a deuce in the fifth. Dartmouth got one in the seventh but that’s as close as it would get.

Sam Lund and Kris Keating each had a double in the victory while Orry Cook and Justin Cormier singled. Robert Gallant and Cook each had an RBI.

Mike Reeve drove in Anthony McKinley, who was 2-for-3, with a seventh-inning double for Dartmouth.
Lund allowed a run on three hits while striking out five in six innings for the victory.  Andrew Case allowed a run on three innings before getting Chris Head to ground out to Doucette to end the game.

Jeff Reeves was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on five hits in four innings for Dartmouth. Jason Mosher struck out five in three innings of no-hit relief.
