The squad plays four road games this weekend in Nova Scotia. It starts today with a doubleheader in Wolfville versus the Acadia Axemen followed by a pair of games on Sunday in Antigonish with the St. FX X-Men. Games begin at 1 and 3:30 p.m. each day.

“We’re excited to get going and see what this year’s team can accomplish,” said head coach Andrew MacNevin. “We’re looking to continue to improve our program at Holland College and to be at our best come the national championship.”

The Hurricanes will rely on two veterans to take the ball in the season opening series. Brady Arsenault is expected to be today’s Game 1 starting pitcher while Colin Arsenault will start in Game 2. Both played with the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders senior squad this season.

The ‘Canes expect to go with a pair of first-year starting pitchers in Zach Gosse and Charles MacLellan on Sunday.

Holland College finished conference play 14-1 last season and finished third at nationals in Oshawa, Ont. The X-Men went 1-11 in 2016 while the Axemen were 8-5.

The Hurricanes return home next weekend when they host St. FX Saturday, Sept. 16 at Memorial Field. Game times are 1 and 3:30 p.m.
