ELMSDALE, P.E.I. — Grade 12 student Madelyn Aylward has been named Westisle Composite High School’s Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month based on her leadership with the senior A girls’ basketball team.

“She was a very consistent player for us,” said coach Meagan Gallant. “A starter every game, she helped keep a good flow going on the court.”
Gallant said the shooting guard was often her team’s top scorer.
“She was great at handling the ball and stealing the ball any chance she got,” added the coach.
Gallant said the 18-year-old daughter of Darlene and Jamie Aylward of Tignish was always looking to improve her game, listened to everything her coaches had to say and would apply it to her game.
Aylward also competes in P.E.I. School Athletic Association senior soccer and track and field.
Following graduation from high school in June, Madelyn hopes to enroll in a nursing program at UPEI in the fall.
