If the government has millions of dollars to throw around to create work, how about killing two birds with one stone?

Farmers in Wooddale have been putting up with a dusty/muddy/pothole road for 50 years. Governments have been saying they want to encourage farming in Newfoundland while we are treated like second- or third-class citizens.

Why, there is even talk about paving walking trails while we choke on dust, go around in mud-caked cars and beat them up running over potholes. Does that sound like encouraging farming?

Wooddale was once called the crown jewel of farming in Newfoundland — well, that crown is getting very tarnished with neglect from successive governments of both stripes. Put your (our) money where your mouth is or shut your mouths when it is convenient to use farming to get votes.

Paving walking trails so bikes and quads don’t stir up dust or get dust on walking shoes must be nice. People don’t have to use those trails but we do have to use the road to get vegetables to market. People will not come to the farms to buy if they have to use dusty, rough road to do so.
