With regards to the Cape Breton Regional Municipality’s search for a new police chief, allow me to say that in acting chief Robert Walsh we already have one of the most stalwart, honest and reliable individuals in the policing community.
Chief Walsh is a man’s man, straight up and what you see is what you get. He favors no one person over the other and he does his job by the book.
I have done business with four CBRM police chiefs - Walsh, Peter McIsaac, Myles Burke and Dave Wilson - during the past 20 years and they were all excellent men who did their jobs to the best of their ability.
I would suggest a hometown boy is so much better than bringing in an outsider. Walsh knows the lay of the land and he can and will command his troops in a very professional way.
Many citizens would be extremely disappointed if the mayor and council went anywhere else for a candidate.
