LETTER: Giving our money away

Re: Greg Dickie’s Feb. 13 letter, “Buying UN votes.” This is not the first time Justin Trudeau has given out tax dollars in a bid for a seat on the UN Security Council. I totally agree with Mr. Dickie. The politicians, especially Trudeau, seem to think the money they give to other countries is theirs to dispose of as they want. It is not; it is taxpayers’ money.

Over the last few days, the hospitals in Yarmouth and Kentville had appeals to raise money for equipment they desperately need. I also received a couple of letters asking me to donate to charities. The food banks are always in need of support.

So my request to all politicians is not to give taxpayers’ money away trying to make a name for yourself. There are too many things that Canadians need. You give our money to foreign countries and ignore the Atlantic provinces. Also, Canada starts on the East Coast, not Quebec
