A visit to the IRAC website lists a whole array of rules and regulations that IRAC uses in its day to day operations. It has three full-time directors, up to five part-time directors with a staff complement of 20.
One of the tasks of IRAC is to ensure that all land acquisitions fall within the rules and regulations of the “Land Protection Act”. One of those rules clearly states that corporations are limited to 3,000 acres in total land holdings. Yet somehow, since 1997, one company, Island Holdings Ltd., has managed to acquire over 7,500 acres. The fact that one corporation was able to acquire land that was 150 per cent over the limit is mind blowing. Did anyone employed by IRAC ever think it might be a good idea to see how much land holdings an applicant has already acquired before approving any new applications? It didn’t really take a lot of work on my part to find out just how many acres Island Holdings Ltd. had already acquired before IRAC approved their last acquisition of 100.2 acres on Feb. 21, 2019. All the information is on IRAC’s own website. If a computer challenged senior like myself can easily find this information, why can’t officials at IRAC?
