Regarding Chief Public Health Officer "disappointed" with liquor store lineups (March 19).
Rather than moralizing about how “disappointed” she was to see Islanders queueing up at the liquor store after her sudden announcement that stores were going to be closing, perhaps Dr. Morrison, our chief public health officer, could use her time more productively doing a little research into addiction issues on P.E.I. She might then come up with creative ideas on how best to improve public health services to Islanders with addiction issues.
Significant announcements at this time need to be more carefully conceived.
Rather than vague promises about selling liquor online, clear guidance about future sales of liquor would likely have minimized the desperate rush to the liquor store. It would also spare us the queasy experience of listening to public officials officiously mounting their high horses.
