My family and I are staying at 20 Massey Dr., Charlottetown. I understand that there is a proposed project of three 20-unit apartment buildings and this will make a big concern for all residents of Southview Estates.
I am writing this letter in order to express my objection to the mentioned project for the following reasons. The neighbourhood is not opposed to the apartments, but the neighbourhood already suffers from congestion when trying to exit via Malpeque and Lower Malpeque roads.
There are basically no sidewalks in the neighbourhood, forcing residents to walk on the street. There are many young children in the neighbourhood, who will be endangered by the minimum of 120 new vehicles that will be forced in and out of our neighbourhood several times a day.
City council refused to take the advice of planning board, which voted 7-3 against the proposal. A similar proposal was voted down by council only a year ago due to traffic concerns. The city refuses to share the traffic study that was done and presented to planning board when they voted against the proposal.
My family, as well as all the residents of Southview Estates, are looking forward to having our voices heard by the city.
